Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - Henrik Zetterberg lit the lamp 2:57 into overtime, as Detroit climbed out of a three-goal deficit in the third period and went on to defeat the New York Islanders, 4-3, at Nassau Coliseum.

Nicklas Lidstrom finished with a goal and two assists for Detroit, which has won two in a row and seven of 10. Dominik Hasek was unusually vulnerable early but rebounded to make 16 saves.

Mike Sillinger, Jason Blake and Shawn Bates all scored for the Islanders, who have dropped two of three. Rick DiPietro turned away 31 shots in defeat.

The Red Wings erupted for three goals in the final frame to erase a 3-0 hole and tie the contest.

The first marker came 3:24 into the last frame on a shot from the point by Niklas Kronvall. Danny Markov rang the post moments later, but that did not stop the Detroit attack. Instead, Lidstrom corralled the disc along the left wall and released a centering feed that made it all the way across the crease. Dan Cleary was waiting all alone on the right side of the net to punch it home and make it a one-goal game at 4:57.

Lidstrom then knotted the game at 3-3 midway through the third, as his slap shot from above the left circle made it through traffic in front and past DiPietro to induce overtime.
