CALGARY (CP) - The Swift Current Broncos erased a three-goal deficit and handed the Calgary Hitmen a 4-3 shootout loss on Sunday night.
Zack Smith scored the deciding goal in the shootout by connecting on the Broncos fifth shot on Calgary netminder Martin Jones. Daniel Rakos, Eric Doyle and Derek Claffey also scored for Swift Current. Keegan Dansereau scored twice and Ian Duval had a goal for Calgary.
Broncos netminder Travis Yonkman posted the shootout win after turning aside all 21 shots he faced during regulation and overtime, and he was beaten just once on five shootout attempts. Swift Current's starting goaltender Kyle Moir gave up three goals on 13 shots during his 28:11 appearance in goal.
