Super Joe deserves nothing less than his own sub-forum, but because our ruthless, anti-freedom mods won't allow it, the following must make due. With his second goal last night, Sakic became:

The 5th player to score 90 or more points during one season while being at least 37 years old.

Code:
SEASON PLAYER AGE PTS
1968-69 Gordie Howe 40 103
1972-73 Johnny Bucyk 37 93
2002-03 Mario Lemieux 37 91
1997-98 Wayne Gretzky 37 90
2006-2007 Joe Sakic 37 90
Tied for 9th in all-time scoring

Code:
Rk Player Pts.
1. Wayne Gretzky 2857
2. Mark Messier 1887
3. Gordie Howe 1850
4. Ron Francis 1798
5. Marcel Dionne 1771
6. Steve Yzerman 1755
7. Mario Lemieux 1723
8. Phil Esposito 1590
T9. Joe Sakic 1579
T9. Ray Bourque 1579
And 15th in all-time goal-scoring list

Code:
Rk Player G
1. Wayne Gretzky 894
2. Gordie Howe 801
3. Brett Hull 741
4. Marcel Dionne 731
5. Phil Esposito 717
6. Mike Gartner 708
7. Mark Messier 694
8. Steve Yzerman 692
9. Mario Lemieux 690
10. Luc Robitaille 668
11. Dave Andreychuk 640
12. Brendan Shanahan 626
13. Jaromir Jagr 617
14. Bobby Hull 610
15. Joe Sakic 608
Which is, needless to say, amazing, and makes me wonder if any other NHL player cracked three such impressive lists on the same night.

Of all these, the one that is downright stupefying is the fact that Sakic has outscored Gretzky and Lemieux at the same age (Lemieux got 90 points in 67 games compared to Joe's 75, but the fact remains). At age 37 Joe is 8th in NHL scoring and has more points than flashier players like Jagr, Ovechkin, Iginla.

I think it's safe to say that Sakic is simply not human. He is an immortal entity playing on a field of lesser men. He has taken his team upon his back to win because he will not allow them to miss the playoffs, and as long as he is with the team, they never will.

Hail to Joe Sakic, and shame on those who thought he was too old to produce.

Psh, yea o right, Sakic is the great no. 19. After he retires, we should make 19 a retired number throughout the league because of both Stevie and him.

Pretty impressive. Sakic's always been one of my favourites. Looking at those lists, I can't help but wonder where he'll end up on them by the time his career is done. Seems reasonable to guess that he'll end up in the same ballpark as Stevie Y, probably even a little higher on both lists.

Sakic has been great this season. I like him as he's always good for Team Canada. (Not that he leads Avs in scoring) :)

Btw, Iginla doesn't have that many points because he missed like 7 games!

Could we see Joe Sakic eventually pass Stevie Y all-time in points, and will finally settle the argument of which #19 is better? He certainly is getting closer.

All Hail our Saviour, A.K.A God, A.K.A Joe Sakic.
