(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues try to end a four-game skid tonight when they welcome the Detroit Red Wings to the Scottrade Center for the opener of a home-and-home.

St Louis is coming off Friday's 5-2 loss in Chicago, as Nikolai Khabibulin made 29 saves to anchor the Blackhawks' effort.

Dennis Wideman and Bill Guerin scored for the Blues, who have lost seven of their last nine.

St. Louis goaltender Curtis Sanford allowed one goal on three shots and left the game in the first period with a groin injury. Manny Legace replaced the injured Sanford and finished with 25 saves.

Sanford is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with his injury.

The Blues will visit Detroit on Thursday to finish this set.

Detroit, meanwhile, had a two-game winning streak ended in Saturday's 3-2 loss to San Jose, and the Wings have lost six of their last eight games (2-3-3).

On Saturday, Joe Pavelski's goal with 5.9 seconds left in regulation lifted the visiting Sharks to the win.
