The waiting game continues on the Sharks' goaltending front. Coach Ron Wilson is sticking with his practice of informing goalies of his lineup decision the day before the game.

The Sharks open the regular season Thursday, which means Wilson should divulge today whether Evgeni Nabokov -- the 2003-04 Game 1 starter -- or 2005-06 Game 1 goalie Vesa Toskala gets the call against the St. Louis Blues at HP Pavilion.

In either case, Wilson is downplaying the significance.

``If who's starting Thursday is the biggest story of the year, we're in trouble,'' Wilson said. ``Hopefully, we can be talking about who's starting in the game when we're winning the Stanley Cup.''

Third-string goalie Nolan Schaefer remains in limbo as a restricted free agent. Because he is without a contract, Schaefer does not count toward the 23-man roster limit.
