RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Justin Williams had two goals and an assist to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 6-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Friday night.

Ray Whitney had a goal and three assists, and Rod Brind'Amour, Cory Stillman and Eric Staal also scored. The Hurricanes scored three goals in the second period and outshot the Capitals 41-26 to snap a two-game losing streak.

Carolina is continuing to show that after winning the cup, and even with the injury to Frank Kaberle, they are no pushover.

They're now 1 win away from home-ice advatage in the East.
