(Sports Network) - Coming off a surprisingly successful road trip, the Minnesota Wild will try to regain their usual home dominance when they entertain the division-rival Edmonton Oilers tonight at the Xcel Energy Center.
The Wild had lost a franchise-record 11 consecutive away games before stringing together victories in each of the last three contests of their recent four-game road trip. Minnesota capped the trek by outlasting the Chicago Blackhawks in a shootout on Sunday, with Pavol Demitra netting the lone goal during the deciding phase.
Manny Fernandez kept the Wild's streak alive with a sensational performance in goal. The veteran stopped 38 chances in regulation and overtime, then made three more saves in the shootout.
Pierre-Marc Bouchard finished with a goal and an assist in the win, while Marian Gaborik and Wes Walz also lit the lamp for Minnesota.
Gaborik, who sat out 34 straight games with a groin injury before returning to the lineup on January 6, has scored five goals during the Wild's three-game run.
Minnesota now returns to the Xcel Energy Center, where the club is an outstanding 17-4-2 on the season. The Wild has dropped its last two at home, however.
