Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto Maple Leafs forward Kyle Wellwood will miss the next two months after undergoing successful hernia surgery on Tuesday.
Wellwood, 23, has not played since December 19 after suffering what was believed to be a groin or hip flexor injury. He then practiced and traveled with the team until undergoing an MRI which revealed the sports hernia.
In 35 games this season, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Wellwood has tallied nine goals and 22 assists.
