New York, NY (Sports Network) - Kevin Weekes stopped 34 shots as the New York Rangers continued their hot play of late with a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers at Madison Square Garden.

Michal Rozsival and Michael Nylander each had a goal and Martin Straka added two assists for the Rangers, who have won three straight and have points in nine of their last 10 games.

Mike Van Ryn scored the lone goal and Ed Belfour stopped 26 shots for the Panthers, who have dropped two straight and eight of their last 10 contests.

The Rangers used their potent power play to grab a 1-0 lead in the first period.

With Bryan Allen in the box for hooking, Jaromir Jagr skated the puck into the zone from the left side. Jagr dished the puck back to Straka, who immediately fed it back to Jagr. From the top of the left circle, Jagr spotted Rozsival, who received the pass at the top of the right circle and snapped a wrister into the net at the 10:49 mark.

Weekes was strong in the opening frame and made 10 saves to preserve the lead.

With around five minutes to play, Florida had a series of shots that Weekes stopped, including a wrist shot by Rostislav Olesz from the right circle that Weekes kicked away with the right pad.

Neither team scored in the middle session with Florida having nine shots on net and New York eight.

The Rangers' best chance came on a 2-on-1 rush when Straka fed a shot from the left side to Brendan Shanahan at the right side, but Belfour stopped the redirected shot with about seven minutes to play.

Florida almost got on the scoreboard when Stephen Weiss snapped a wrister from the low slot, but Weekes grabbed it with the leather to keep the game at 1-0.
