Ryan Duncan of Calgary, a sophomore forward at North Dakota, was named player of the week after picking up seven points in a weekend sweep at Minnesota, which dropped to No. 3 from No. 1.

Duncan, who played prep school hockey with Sidney Crosby at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Minnesota, had two goals and an assist in a 5-3 Fighting Sioux win before leading his team to a sweep with two goals and two assists in a 7-3 victory over the Golden Gophers. Duncan is tied for the WCHA lead in points with 36.

Michigan Tech freshman Alex Gagne of Rock Forest, Que., was named rookie of the week after scoring the opening goal in a 2-2 tie with Colorado College and assisting on junior forward and Kelowna, B.C., native Tyler Shelast's winner in a 1-0 victory the next night.
