BRAMPTON, Ont. (CP) - Vladimir Nikiforov's short-handed goal with 2:52 remaining in the third period proved to be the winner as the Barrie Colts edged the Brampton Battalion 4-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday.

Nikiforov cut across the middle deep in Battalion territory, eluding defenders and beating goaltender Bryan Pitton on a nifty deke move.

Bryan Little scored twice, while Richard Clune added a goal each for the Colts (31-11-0-1).

Cody Hodgson had two goals for Brampton (18-23-1-3), while Justin Levac had one.
