In The Spotlight

G Ryan Miller

Arguably the best goaltender in the NHL this season has performed admirably for the Buffalo Sabres. Expected to be the starting goaltender, he brings good size, technical skills and athleticism to the American net.

D Erik Johnson

Johnson is the best all-around defenseman that America has produced in years. At only 21, he's got a wealth of international competition, representing America in both the World Juniors and the World Championships in 2007. He will play in all situations and against the top lines of other teams.

LW Zach Parise

Parise has developed himself into a player that is dominant in all areas of the ice. Because of this, he will play on the top line with the American team and get plenty of ice time in key situations.

LMao? Halak the hottest goalie cumming in?
Who was hotter? HE had been playing some amazing goal for the Habs.

Brodeur and Luongo both got pulled within a game or two of the break.

Lundqvist? ehhh He hasn't shut the door like he has in past seasons.
Kiprusoff? don't think so.
Hiller? Yup he was my #2 in terms of goalies who could steal a game.
Vokoun? HE's good but..no.
Miller? He was my #3 by a hair. Call him 2b if you want.
Miller was cold going into the Olympic break, 1 win in what 7 games is pretty cold imo

The statistics say otherwise.

Vokoun had a .924 SV% in his last five games played.
Kiprusoff had a .922 SV% in his last five games played.
Lundqvist had a .918 SV% in his last five games played.
Miller had a .912 SV% in his last five games played.
Luongo had a .906 SV% in his last five games played.
Hiller had a .904 SV% in his last five games played.
Halak had a .873 SV% in his last five games played.
Brodeur had a .864 SV% in his last five games played.

This basically gives you an idea of how good they have been in the month of February. Any further, and you're starting to add January games into it.

Considering that your team has to score goals to win games, wins are a terrible measure of a goaltender's ability.

Did anyone just see Ruutu jump on Miller and more importantly Jokinen just attack Kane with a slash to the foot for not doing anything?!

Yea I saw that. Kane did nothing but skate up towards the net. I dont know what it was all about, maybe he was just mad about the score. But Jokinen did get 2 and 10. Right?

I think it was just Ruutu who got 2 and 10. Jokinen showed zero class there, and had that been an NHL game, he surely would've had to answer to a much bigger guy who wouldn't be afraid of being penalized for teaching him a lesson.

OK Just had the wrong name. Thanks for correcting.
Awesome win. This squad has been fantastic. They have a great shot to win gold come Sunday.

F**K the NHL stats on this one.

Have I been wrong in my picks?

Halak, Hiller, Miller as the top three in the tournament? All three have played amazing.

Big Game guys.

Anyway I am thinking Halak makes 64 saves in a 3-1 loss to Canada.
From the stats going into that game, I was thinking that might be a 2-1, 2-0 type game with an empty netter. Didn't see 6 goals in less than 13 minutes or 2 goals in 15 seconds after the goaltending change...all that after Finland gave up a total of 4 goals (2 on the PP) in the entire tournament prior to game time.
Just delete. Thougt I was in Canada thread. Sry.

You haven't been wrong in your picks, but you were wrong with your statement that they were the hottest going into the tournament. ;)

I'm gonna say that they were focussed on the Olympics, for those final 5 games. ;)
Does miller get the shutout for that game?
k. I don't blame ron wilson bringing Thomas in. Because Usa had the win secured and under control.
Key to this game is Miller, and I can't wait to see which was it goes. If Miller plays well, the Gold is USA's. If not, then barring a major performance from USA's forward-line, the Gold will go to the home-country.
