Wasn't it Suter who slid over when he didn't need to? I thought Rafalski was already there and was in the right spot.
Well, 4-on-4 defensive zone probably isn't a top priority in practice, so maybe they were playing a bit of a man-to-man setup. If that's the case, then Rafalski just got beat by Crosby. But if not, then you're right Suter was the one out of position when he slid to the corner to cover Iginla.

And a forward could have easily collapsed down low - I mean it was ot in the gold medal game - defense should've been a top priority.
And that would have been Parise. He was floating in the high slot area when he actually probably should have been much lower, so I agree with you on this one, too.

Awwww it way my boy Parise. He was way too high in the slot, although you're right, Rafalski did lose his head for just a split second not staying goal-side of Crosby. Maybe just a bit tired.

In Rafalsski's defense, he was on the ice basically the entire game. It seemed like he never came off. Maybe he was a little tired and that's why he ended up out of position in OT.
It's nothing new with him though. He's had the same issues his entire career. He's been lucky enough to play most of his career alongside the likes of Stevens, Niedermayer, and Lidstrom, so those mistakes aren't as obvious as they are when he's the #1 guy. And I don't mean to sound as if I'm ripping on the guy, because his offense was a big reason they even got to the gold medal game. You just have to expect that he'll make some mistakes in his own end.

Now that I am off my Gold Medal high, I really want to say the Americans did great.

It pissed me off to hear and still hear that nobody thought the Americans could do anything. Did no one really look at the team?

Did everyone forget Parise's 45 goal season last year?

Were people sleeping while Ryan and Brown became two of the games of best young powerforwards(modern version)?

Did no one notice the best goalie in the NHL this season has been Ryan Miller?

I guess Kesler must have been forgotten playing on the West coast in Vancouver.

Apparently having former 1st and 3rd overall NHL draft picks on the blueline is not that impressive.

Oh, and who was that #88 guy? He kind of looked like he had a bit of talent.

The word is you guys were over looked. I guess they weren't lookng at it the way I was because iirc I had the USA losing by one goal to the Rusians in the bronze medal game, with Slovakia getting silver.

The USA has a lot to be proud and excited about for the next Olympics and USA hockey in general.

Your next generation of talent just got introduced to, and hooked on, the game. :bt

US Hockey funny

:fight
A US first grade teacher explained to her class that she is an American. She asked her students to raise their hands if they are American too.
Not really knowing why but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands went up.There is, however, one exception. A girl named Kristen has not gone along with the class.
The teacher asked her why she has decided to be different. "Because I am not an American."
"Then", asks the teacher, "What are you?".
"I'm a proud Canadian," boasted the little girl.
The teacher asked Kristen why she is a Canadian.
"Well, my mom and dad are Canadians, so I'm a Canadian too.
"The teacher replied," Well, you could have been born in the US!" she said loudly. Not using good logic the teacher said, "What if your mom was not a good hockey player, and your dad was not a good hockey player? Would that mean that you are not a good hockey player too?"
A pause, and a smile. Kristen replied, "Nope! That'd mean I'm an American!"

... The key word being "game".

Relax, take a deep breath, recite "calm blue ocean" 15 times. Don't worry, be happy.

The nice thing for us is that we're not actually ON the teams in question. WE don't win a thing, and (here's the good news for this thread) YOU didn't lose a thing. There's no significant personal attachment as a viewer.

At least, there isn't for me, anyway. I have fun watching the games, cheering for my team. Then, win lose or draw, I shut off the TV after the game and go on about my business.

A bit of perspective would be good for you here.

I'm confused, did Sabresfan win a silver medal?
Exactly what Daryl was saying:
