Gamblers deal Junior Blue Jackets losing hand
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Junior Blue Jackets tied the game 1-1, but the Green Bay Gamblers scored twice more, including a controversial third goal, in a 3-1 game at Nationwide Arena Wednesday.
Forward Sean McCauley netted the Junior Blue Jackets (1-17-5, 7 pts.) only goal early in the second period on the power play. McCauley took a pass in front of the net from defenseman Pat Goebel and slid it between the pads of Green Bay goaltender Nick Graves. Defenseman Chris Reed got the other assist on the play and now leads the team in points with 11 and assists with 10.
The Gamblers (11-9-2, 24 pts.) came right back after McCauley's goal and took back the lead one minute and 25 seconds later, on a goal by Steve Silva. Then, a little over halfway through the period, Bryan Haczyk carried the puck down the right wing and shoveled it toward the net. Ohio goalie Troy Redmann tried to stop the puck, however Haczyk and the Junior Blue Jackets defender could not avoid Redmann and the puck was still loose. It bounced into the net and was ruled a goal by the linesman originally and then confirmed with the referee.
The Junior Blue Jackets play host to the Lincoln Stars this Saturday and Sunday. The game times are set for 1 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday.
