Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is proud to announce two members of this year's team will play in the 2007 World Junior Hockey Championship.

Defenceman Karl Alzner will suit up for Team Canada marking the fourth straight year a Hitmen will wear red and white. The 18 year-old is one of seven defencemen on the roster.

Meanwhile for the second straight year, forward Freddie Pettersson has been named to Team Sweden. The 19 year-old Edmonton Oilers prospect collected five points in six games at the 2006 World Junior's in Vancouver.

Alzner will become the 10th Hitmen to play in the World Junior Hockey Championship joining the following players:

2000 - Matt Kinch (Canada), Chris Neilsen (Canada)

2001 - Pavel Brendl (Czech Republic), Toni Bader (Germany)

2002 - Fredrik Sjostrom (Sweden)

2003 - Fredrik Sjostrom (Sweden)

2004 - Ryan Getzlaf (Canada)

2005 - Ryan Getzlaf (Canada), Andrew Ladd (Canada)

2006 - Justin Pogge (Canada), Freddie Pettersson (Sweden)

2007 - Karl Alzner (Canada), Freddie Pettersson (Sweden)

The 2007 IIHF World U20 Championship will be played in Mora and Leksand Sweden from December 26th, 2006 thru January 5, 2007.
