There was some talk of Turco's play, under the Lalime thread. So here we go. What do you think of Marty Turco, one year wonder, or in a slump?

His stats are close to not very good. Last year Dallas' defense corps was much more solid..so this proves in some ways that it was the defense which influenced his stellar numbers last year.

Many people have been talking of Giggy's bad play, and Lalimes. BUT..Turco has gone unmentioned..and yet some still consider him for the Olympic team. BUT..they do not consider Giggy, nor Lalime. So lets also compare their records

So I figure its unfair to totally critize Lalime..when Turco..a vezina candidate last year..is performing MUCH worse. Also, even Giggy..often whipped for his bad play..is performing better.

Lets start to look at all the goalies, not just a select few.

Calling somebody a one-year wonder after 15-20 games is an unfair assessment. For me, the season doesn't really start to take shape until after Christmas. I've always hated this part of the year. With the opening night hype long gone, this part drags on for an eternity it seems. Calling someone a one year wonder is a 20/20 hindsight measure, like in 2-3 years down the road when you have more compare it with!!!

it's just a bad start for him...you can't call him a one year wonder....numerous goalies have had a bad start after performing well the year before.....

i dont think turco is to blame for the stars, the defnce has taken blows to losing sydor, and hatcher, and injurys to lethinen hurts (who is a defence of forword) so truco isnt all to blame, and i think he will play fine down the strech

I've got to say I have never been a big fan of Turco. Honestly I think he is overrated.

jetsgo..excellent point. So the main reason for his stellar play last year, was due to the stellar play of his defense in front of him. This year, Lehiten is out..Sydor gone..Hatcher gone..so his defense is nothing but just good. AND, now look at his numbers. Obviously he benefits from a good defense.

So, I do think he is overrated. Place him on a more offensive team, and his current numbers would be his usual ones
