Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 16-year-old forward Patrick Holland to a standard WHL Players Contract. Holland was selected by Tri-City in the sixth round (125th overall) in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.
The Lethbridge, AB-native attended the Americans' rookie camp this season. After a solid performance, including a goal for Team Blue in the Todd Klassen Classic, Holland earned an invite to Tri-City's main camp. Currently, the 6'0, 175 pound forward is playing for the Lethbridge Y's Men Titans of the Alberta Midget Hockey League. Holland, who was recently named to the Chrysler Division All-Star roster, has totaled 15 goals and 41 points in 30 games for the Titans and sits just outside the top-5 in AMHL scoring. This past December, Holland also helped the Titans to a berth in the semi-finals of the prestigious Mac's Tournament in Calgary, collecting five goals and eight points in six games.
"Patrick is a skilled forward who excelled at our rookie camp," stated Tory. "He is a tremendous skater with good vision and puck skills. He will be a welcome addition to our line-up next season."
The Americans return to the ice this weekend, as they welcome the Everett Silvertips to the Toyota Center tonight, Friday, January 23. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Tri-City will then head up north to take on the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday before returning to Kennewick on Sunday, January 25 in a re-match with the Silvertips. Tickets are available through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer outlets, or online at ticketmaster.com.
