(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers will try to win consecutive games for the first time in 2007, as they welcome the Los Angeles Kings to Philips Arena this evening.
The Thrashers are just 2-3-2 since the start of the new calendar year, but were able to snap a five-game skid Saturday in Carolina. Slava Kozlov scored the winning goal in the shootout to guide Atlanta to the 4-3 win over the Hurricanes at the RBC Center.
Scott Mellanby, Glen Metropolit and Bobby Holik each scored a goal for the Thrashers, while Kari Lehtonen finished with 24 saves.
Atlanta leads the Southeast Division with 58 points and holds a five-point edge over the Hurricanes, the defending Stanley Cup champs.
Tonight marks the first of consecutive games at home for the Thrashers, who are a solid 11-5-4 as the host this season.
The Kings are in the midst of a four-game losing streak and fell Monday afternoon in Dallas. Marty Turco made 20 saves and Mike Ribeiro had two assists as the Stars defeated LA, 3-1, at American Airlines Center.
