(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers will continue their season-long six- game homestand this evening, when they open the doors of Philips Arena for the New York Islanders.

The Thrashers are 2-1-0 so far in the stand and are coming off Tuesday's close win over New Jersey. Marian Hossa notched the game-winner in the shootout and Ilya Kovalchuk scored twice in regulation to lift Atlanta to the 5-4 victory over the Devils.

Niclas Havelid and Glen Metropolit both scored a goal while Slava Kozlov had three assists for the Thrashers, who have won three of four and five of their last seven games.

Kari Lehtonen made 36 saves for Atlanta, which holds an eight-point lead over Carolina for first place in the Southeast Division.

The Thrashers have played well at home all season and are 14-7-4 in Atlanta for the year.

Meanwhile, the Islanders are beginning a three-game road trip tonight. New York is 11-12-2 as the guest this year, but 3-1-1 in its last five road tests.

The Isles dropped a home test on Tuesday night, as they were handed a 4-3 overtime loss by the Detroit Red Wings. Henrik Zetterberg lit the lamp 2:57 into the extra session to complete the comeback effort for Detroit, which erased a three-goal deficit in the third period.
