(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers will try to keep their momentum going into the second half of the season as they open their post-All-Star break schedule with a home test tonight against the New York Islanders.

The Thrashers, who have never made the playoffs since entering the league in 1999-00, have 62 points and currently hold a six-point edge over Carolina for first place in the Southeast Division.

Atlanta had won three of four games before the break, including last Saturday's win over the New York Rangers. Niclas Havelid's third-period goal lifted the Thrashers to the 3-1 triumph at Madison Square Garden.

Ilya Kovalchuk and Marian Hossa also scored for the Thrashers, while Kari Lehtonen made 29 saves.

Hossa was Atlanta's lone representative at Wednesday's All-Star Game in Dallas and notched four assists for the East in a 12-9 loss. The Isles sent left wing Jason Blake to Dallas and he added a pair of helpers in the losing effort.

The Islanders were last in action on January 18 in Philadelphia and notched a 4-2 win over the Flyers at the Wachovia Center. Mike Sillinger had a goal and an assist to lead New York.
