(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers try to put the brakes on a two-game skid Friday when they visit the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center.
Atlanta has lost four of its last five (1-2-2) overall after a four-game winning streak. On Wednesday the Thrashers dropped a 5-2 tilt to visiting Carolina, as Rod Brind'Amour and Ray Whitney each tallied two goals and two assists for the Hurricanes.
Marian Hossa and Vitaly Vishnevski each scored for the Thrashers, while Kari Lehtonen gave up four goals on 13 shots before being pulled late in the second period. Johan Hedberg took over the netminding duties and stopped all four shots he faced.
Lehtonen has struggled of late after a solid start to the season. He has been tagged for four goals in each of his last three outings, and the one before that he was hit for five tallies.
