(Sports Network) - Have the Atlanta Thrashers lost their early-season magic? Sure seems like it
The Thrashers try to end a four-game skid on Wednesday when they visit a team they have handled this season, the Washington Capitals, at the Verizon Center.
Atlanta has won all three meetings with Washington so far this season by the score of 4-3 -- one in regulation, one in overtime and one in a shootout.
The Thrashers are coming off Saturday's 3-1 loss in Montreal, as Cristobal Huet stopped 39 shots to anchor the Canadiens.
Glen Metropolit scored the lone goal for Atlanta, and Johan Hedberg stopped 30-of-32 shots in the loss.
The Thrashers' four-game skid is their longest of the season. Atlanta has lost its lead in the Southeast Division race, as the club is tied with Carolina in the standings at 27 points.
