This week the IceGators Hockey Team announced the signing of Jason Hamilton to their team. Hamilton, a defenceman from Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada, played for the original IceGators in the 2003-2004 season. Ice- Gator fans may remember this 6'1", 240 pounder best for his part in the IceGators/ Wildcatter fight in Beaumont, Texas during the 2003-2004 season. As the first player signed, the IceGators view Hamilton's vast experience and leadership skills as a key asset both on and off the ice. He will be an integral part of a winning 2009-2010 sea- son. Hamilton began his hockey career as a first round draft pick for the QMJHL Shawinigan Cataractes. In 1998, he was signed as a free agent for the NHL's Chicago Black Hawks. Since that time, he has continued playing professionally for the last 10 years playing in the AHL, ECHL and the CHL. During his years in the ECHL, Hamilton led the league in fighting majors 2 years in a row. One of many Hamilton fight's can be viewed on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rODj-a2HBKw (he's the guy in red!)
