If anyone in the NHL deserves a mulligan, it's Wayne Gretzky.

That's the consensus around the league regarding the Great One's not-so-great NHL coaching debut last season.

Yes, the Coyotes earned 13 more points under Gretzky than they did in 2003-04, and, yes, there were plenty of off-ice distractions for him to deal with, but Phoenix still finished last in the Pacific Division and did not qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs for the third straight season.

wayne gretzky just needs some time he helped them out a lot last year but hes a great coach he gets a rare thing from his players that a lot of coaches dont..................respect.

So far so good. A 6-3 win over the isles last night:

Coyotes sink Islanders

Steve Reinprecht had 5 points on the night on the "Nagy-Doan-Reinprecht" line. :thumbsup: I'll defintely be keeping an eye on this team, especially since they receive so little coverage, despite Wayne Gretzky being their Coach and them having some very... "well known" players.
