Life isn’t really that much different yet for Corbin McPherson since becoming a draft pick of the National Hockey League’s New Jersey Devils during the summer.

Other than a little extra attention in his home state of California and more buzz about the draft around the Cowichan Valley Capitals during their B.C. Hockey League training camp, it’s been business as usual.

McPherson has placed higher expectations on himself this season, partly because of the draft, and the Caps, in turn, are looking for big-time leadership from him on defence.

“I feel pretty good so far,’’ said McPherson. “I don’t think I’ve played my best yet, but it’s a long year.’’

McPherson missed the first 14 games last season due to a broken left thumb. Being able to start this season already puts him miles ahead of his slow initiation into the BCHL.

So, do you have an opinion, or something to start a discussion on this?
