That's a common misconception, not even the Canadian media really understands it. After 9 games in the NHL, their contract counts it as a whole year, meaning even if you send him back to junior, his contract counts towards your contract limit and burns a year off of it. Basically, a NHL contract is for professional hockey so if you spend the year in junior, it just adds another year onto the contract on the end.

Alex Pietrangelo played 8 games with the Blues in 2008-09 before being re-assigned. Basically, instead of being under contract until 2010-11, his contract is now good until 2011-12. I believe a player can only have one 9 game run and that Pietrangelo's 9 games this year does burn the first year of his contract.

However, getting back to the original topic, it is possible to send them back after that if they're age eligible, but you can't re-call them again until the junior year ends. See the Philadelphia Flyers and Luca Sbisa case that I stated in my last post.

Sbisa was drafted, started the 2008-09 year with the Flyers, played 39 games and was then sent back to junior. He then finished his year with the Phantoms, because his junior team's season ended.

With all that said, I doubt you see Tavares or Del Zotto with London this year. But I ask again, where did you hear this rumor? I've literally seen or heard nothing of this sort anywhere other than this thread.

I was explaining the rules regarding returning a player to junior, since you said you didn't understand it. Forgive me for trying to clear something up that you don't get.

Did you just see a long post and think I was arguing with you?

I will try once more yes I agree with you okay just like I said in my post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it wouldn,t make since for any player to come back to junior when you have been playing all year in the NHL especially with a NHL contract there wouldn,t be anything to prove I heard someone talking about it so I posted this question but it was a waste of time
