With Stu Barnes signed for another season, the Dallas Stars appear to have turned their attention to the upcoming NHL Entry Draft, reports the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The Stars' top priority this off-season was trying to re-sign veterans Barnes and Darryl Sydor. The club locked up Barnes to a one-year, $900,000 contract yesterday, and while they they'd like to get Sydor inked, it appears the defenseman may test the free agent market this July.

Stars GM Doug Armstrong told the Star-Telegram he hasn't talked with Sydor's representatives in some time and his focus is now on the June 22-23 draft.

This only proves you should not believe everthing you read!

It wasnt so long ago Sydor was going on about how great it was to be in Dallas, great club, go place to live etc etc and now he wants to test the market for bigger bucks..

Well I guess on the other had it makes it easier for the GM to focus on other tasks at hand (like he is with the draft) and find better defensemen.
