Olympiques 6, Foreurs 5

Claude Giroux scored twice in the Gatineau Olympiques' four-goal, first-period outburst Sunday.

Giroux completed the hat trick and added two assists as the Olympiques held on for a 6-5 victory over the Val-d'Or Foreurs in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Three of the Olympiques' unanswered first-period goals came in a 3:11 span. Giroux put away his second at 15:37, Martin Frechette scored at 17:14 and Jean-Philip Chabot rounded out the scoring spree at 18:48.

At Gatineau, Que., Keven Petit's goal at 13:33 of the third stood as the winner for the Olympiques (28-16-2-2).

Jerome Samson had two goals for Val-d'Or (30-15-2-2), while Maxime Levesque, Brad Marchand and Martin Thibeault added singles.

Screaming Eagles 2, Wildcats 1 (SO)

At Moncton, N.B., Chris Culligan scored the shootout winner as Cape Breton edged the Wildcats.

Dean Ouellet had a goal in regulation for the Screaming Eagles (31-15-0-2).

Matt Marquardt replied for Moncton (31-15-1-2).

Remparts 2, Oceanic 1

At Quebec City, Maxime Sauve scored the winner at 15:59 in the third period as the Remparts squeaked by Rimouski.

Roman Bashkirov added a goal for Quebec (26-19-2-3).

David Skokan had the lone goal for the Oceanic (10-30-6-1).

Voltigeurs 5, Tigres 3

At Drummondville, Que., Etienne Bellavance-Martin scored the short-handed winner as the Voltigeurs beat Victoriaville.

Eric Campeau-Charron, Alexandre Demers, Gaby Roch and Tomas Zohorna added a goal each for Drummondville (22-22-0-3).

Keven Veilleux, Francis Guerette-Charland and Alexandre Monahan replied for the Tigres (28-17-2-1).

Huskies 3, Mooseheads 1

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Tyler Whitehead scored twice as the Huskies defeated Halifax.

Michael Dubuc and Tyler Hawes added a goal apiece for Rouyn-Noranda (25-19-3-4).

Peter-James Corsi put away the lone goal for the Mooseheads (20-24-3-2).
