Can we have a sticky thread that contains all "noob" questions that are asked. I was thinking have one in the NHL section and more hockey discussion section for particullary any user that really will only use this site for one or two questions about something random in the NHL or a just starting hockey question. Maybe instead of the same questions being asked the new users will see this thread at the top and their question will already been answered.

Just a thought, let me know what you think.

That would keep people from making multiple threads on the same topic

Sticky a FAQ thread or New Memeber's Questions or something?

Sounds like a good idea.

It also sounds to me like you just volunteered to set it up. ;)

Haha I'll do it later tonight. Should we have one in both sections I mentioned or just have one in a certain section?

It seems to me like noobs never bother to look around for a stickied thread like that anyway. We can go ahead and do that, but I'm sure we'll still see threads popping up like that here and there.

This is true, but hopefully it can at least limit the number of threads started.

You could always go the route of making a full blown forum section dedicated to NHL/Forum questions and put it at the top where people can see it. That will not only help keep the other forums clean but with that section and a frequently asked questions sticky you could almost completely remove those threds. On top of that, it will give you a place to move questions that would be more suitable to that section so it is not taking up space in the regular sections. Just a thought...

Edit: haha I just realized the date on this... Guess roaming the rest of the forum that I have yet to explore should be done with more caution.

Let's get it started up again.

Okay guys, I'm sure many of you have noticed that this site is getting real slow these days. We need to get some suggestions going on how to up the amount of members and bring this site back to life. I remember a couple of years ago when quite a bit was going on here (even during the off season) but now things just seemed to have come to a stop. I think we need to get some feelers out there on different sites. Maybe a youtube channel with vids people from our site put up to attract attention to this small forum. We can also put up media such as NHL 12 covers featuring players from other teams or signatures up in a video. We have quite a few capable photoshop artists and if we can get some people who are good with editing and creating videos we could really get something going. Just my thoughts what do you guys think? Any other suggestions.

Sorry, I banned the last guy who was running up the post count around here. He is free to post anywhere he wants now, but I guess if he can't bash the Leafs he has no desire to post.

Let's try a game.

Haha nah it's fine. I gave up talking to the guy anyways. I don't mind having people that will bash the Leafs it's just a matter of having his mind open to other peoples comments rather then blindly saying the same thing over and over again.

What kind of game did you have in mind ?

You could always start a hockeyforum.com facebook page and we could work to increase people posting by having this site "sponsor" fantasy hockey leagues. I have been running a Yahoo! fantasy hockey league for 5 years now and I'm looking to expand. My benefit could also be a benefit of this forum where I have a link posted on my homepage. If there are others out there who are also running a fantasy league then we could begin to group up to make a HockeyForums.com fantasy hockey leagues with multiple kinds of league layouts and difficulty levels. My league is a head to head but I'm also looking to add a prize league. People who join from yahoo to play would then see our links and possibly become valued members of the community. Another idea is to add a link as a footer to e-mails and even to put links on our adult league sites. Ill post more ideas when I have some more time but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Those are great suggestions. I don't know much about fantasy hockey so i don't know how this would be put into practice. Could you find a way to organize this sort of plan?

I could give it a shot but it would take commitment from multiple league commissioners. I certainly could at the very least post a link on my league when the time comes. If any of you have a wealth of experience in web design I am building a site for my league to help complement the expansion and have been running into some problems but if someone was willing to help with it I could get large dedicated ads for this forum put onto that site. Once the site is up then it would be easy to give commissioners the ability to add the leagues to help them promote active and smart GMs. It could also do wonders for the fantasy hockey section of this site though it could also fail miserably.

So far I have added a link to this site on my e-mail and also made a note for it on my fantasy hockey league. The website (its kind of a cheap freebie website) Im working on can be seen hereand I could add a nice ad for here on the side if someone wanted to design it.
