(Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche try to get back on track tonight, when they continue a season-long five-game homestand against the Florida Panthers at Pepsi Center.
The Avalanche won the opener of the stand against Nashville on January 30, but have since dropped games to Minnesota and Edmonton. The pair of losses moved Colorado to 14-12-3 at home.
Brad Richardson and Joe Sakic scored for the Avalanche, who fell to the Oilers 3-2 on Saturday. Peter Budaj turned aside 25-of-28 shots in what was the fourth loss in five games for Colorado.
The recent string of setbacks has Colorado sitting in last place in the Northwest Division and eight points behind Vancouver and Minnesota, which are tied for the seventh spot in the West.
When Avalanche defender Karlis Skrastins takes the ice tonight, he will match Hall-of-Famer Tim Horton's consecutive games streak for defenseman that sits at 486 straight contests. Skrastins hasn't missed a game since February 18, 2000. Horton, meanwhile, ran his streak from February 11, 1961 to February 4, 1968.
