(Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning have an opportunity to set a season high for consecutive wins when they take the ice at Buffalo's HSBC Arena tonight. To do it, however, they'll have to overtake a Sabres squad they've have little success against as of late.
The Sabres have won six straight games over the Lightning, including a pair of matchups already this season. Tampa Bay has also lost in each of its last four trips to Buffalo and is a woeful 2-10-1 (one tie) its last 13 times as the visitor in this series.
The Lightning come in on a hot streak, however, having swept a home-and-home series with Pittsburgh before edging the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Martin St. Louis' goal with 3:22 remaining in regulation boosted Tampa Bay to a 5-4 victory over the Capitals at the St. Pete Times Forum.
Vincent Lecavalier finished with two goals and an assist for the Lightning, while St. Louis added an assist on the evening. Johan Holmqvist needed to make just 18 saves in goal to earn the win.
St. Louis is currently on a nine-game point streak, having registered five goals and eight helpers during the run, and has notched an assist in seven consecutive contests. Lecavalier has compiled five goals and five assists during a five-game tear.
