(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils put their four-game winning streak on the line when they continue a six-game homestand this afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Continental Airlines Arena.
The Devils have won the first three games of the stand and recorded a 2-0 win over the New York Islanders in their most recent outing on Thursday. Martin Brodeur stopped 25 shots for his league-leading 10th shutout of the season and 90th of his career.
The 34-year-old Brodeur ranks third all-time in shutouts, behind George Hainsworth (94) and Terry Sawchuk (103). Also, Brodeur is just one shutout shy of his season-high, as he had 11 during the 2003-04 campaign.
The Devils netminder has been his usual dominating self this season and also leads the league in wins (34) and goals-against average (2.04), and is tied for the league lead in save percentage (.927) with Nashville's Chris Mason.
Jamie Langenbrunner and Jay Pandolfo scored against the Islanders for the Devils, who are one win shy of matching their longest winning streak of the season. The Devils reeled off five consecutive wins from December 1-9.
Both Langenbrunner and Zach Parise are riding five-game point streaks for the Devils. Langenbrunner has three goals and six assists over his run, while Parise has posted four goals and three assists.
