(Sports Network) - One of the NHL's hottest teams returns home off a wildly successful road trip this evening, as the Phoenix Coyotes aim for their eighth consecutive victory when the Detroit Red Wings invade Jobing.com Arena.

The Coyotes are on their longest win streak since an eight-game run from November 16-December 2, 1999. The club's five most recent victories have come on the road, including Tuesday's 5-2 decision over Dallas at the American Airlines Center.

Shane Doan scored two goals and Mikael Tellqvist made 29 saves for Phoenix, which also received a goal and an assist out of Ed Jovanovski.

Owen Nolan also tallied in the win and has now recorded a point in five straight games. The veteran wing has notched three goals and three assists during that span.

The Coyotes, who have outscored their opponents 30-12 during the streak, begin a three-game homestand tonight. Phoenix is 11-8-1 as the host so far this season.

Detroit will close out a five-game road trip which began with three straight losses. The Red Wings got back on track by edging the Colorado Rockies in a shootout on Tuesday.

Henrik Zetterberg beat Peter Budaj with a beautiful double-deke move for the deciding goal as Detroit posted a 4-3 triumph. It was the Red Wings' seventh consecutive win over the Avalanche.

Zetterberg also scored in regulation, as did Pavel Datsyuk and Robert Lang, as the Red Wings put an end to their slide. Dominik Hasek allowed three goals on 25 shots in the victory.
