The Dallas Stars placed defenceman Sergei Zubov (elbow), Matthew Barnaby (concussion) and goaltender Mike Smith (concussion) on the injured reserve list.
The team also recalled right wing Krys Barch and centre Joel Lundqvist from the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.
Zubov, 36, is expected to miss Dallas' next three games and should return on January 26 against Pittsburgh, following his successful surgery to his elbow. The 6'1'', 198-pound defenceman has appeared in 44 games with the Stars this season, recording seven goals and 23 assists for 30 points. He currently ranks tied for first on the team in assists and is second in points. He is the only active defencemen to post 30 or more assists and 40 or more points over the past 10 seasons.
Barnaby, 33, suffered a concussion on January 9 against Phoenix and is expected to miss a week from his injury. Barnaby has played in 39 games with the Stars, recording one goal and six assists for seven points with a league-high 127 penalty minutes. Over 834 career NHL games, he has notched 113 goals and 187 assists for 300 points with 2,562 penalty minutes.
