(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars attempt to halt a two-game slide as the slumping club kicks off a three-game road trip this afternoon against the Los Angeles Kings.
The struggling Stars lost for the third time in four games with Thursday's 5-2 defeat to the New York Rangers at the American Airlines Center. Dallas fell despite owning a 45-19 advantage in shots, as goalkeeper Mike Smith managed to make just 15 saves.
Sergei Zubov and Philippe Boucher each finished with a goal and an assist for the Stars, who played their fifth straight game without star center Mike Modano. The veteran playmaker hasn't played since December 4 because of a hip flexor.
Dallas could get back on track against a Kings team it has owned so far this season. The Stars have won all four meetings between the Pacific Division foes in 2006-07 and have outscored Los Angeles 16-7 in those encounters.
The Kings did win six of eight over the Stars in 2005-06.
Dallas, which owns a 9-7 record on the road thus far, will next play Wednesday at Anaheim before concluding the swing Thursday against San Jose.
