Preds and Stars tonight. Looking to pick up 2 more pts and keep on moving up the ladder.
When the Predators began the season, people were writing articles about which goaltender they would use, and subsequently how starting Dan Ellis on opening night looked like a good move. (He stopped 38 of 40 Stars shots to start the season.) 11 days later Nashville came to Dallas again and we talked about what a mess they were after the Stars spanked them 6-0. So much has changed since, because Pekka Rinne (not Ellis) was named the NHL's first star of the week last week, and his Predators are the hottest thing going right now outside of the Phoenix Coyotes.
Nashville enters tonight's contest on a six game win streak, having outscored their opponents 9-2 in the last three. They're getting it done on both ends of the ice and sit at 89 points, challenging the Kings for the 5 seed in the West. Moving to the #5 seed could prove a risky move for the Preds, because you could see the Sharks there, which looks fun lately, or just easily the Coyotes, which doesn't look quite so inviting. Imagine, however, a #4 vs #5 matchup of the two hottest teams in the conference: Nashville Vs. Phoenix. (Sounds weird to say, doesn't it?)
