Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow will be out of action indefinitely following successful surgery Tuesday night to repair severed tendons in his right wrist, general manager Doug Armstrong said on Wednesday.

Morrow suffered the injury when he was stepped on by a skate Tuesday night in the Stars' 2-1 loss to the Blackhawks in Chicago. He was taken to a nearby hospital, underwent surgery and was discharged Wednesday morning. He is expected to return to Dallas where team medical staff will monitor and evaluate his situation.

In 27 games this season, Morrow has 10 goals, 10 assists and 27 penalty minutes. The 27-year-old native of Carlyle, Manitoba was given the "C" before the start of the 2006-2007 campaign, replacing long-time captain and franchise icon Mike Modano.
