Donations based on teams’ on-ice performance to be matched by Garth Brooks
NEW YORK – The Dallas Stars-Colorado Avalanche game that airs on NBC Sunday, Feb. 11 at 3:30 p.m. EST will mark the first time in League history when two competing teams with full-team participation in the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation will contribute funds based on on-ice performance to the charity. Every Stars and Avalanche player will donate a pre-determined amount for goals scored, assists made, shots blocked or team win. At game’s end, Teammates for Kids will triple the total raised on-ice.
“This is something that is very exciting for both organizations, and I know that both teams are very honored to be part of such an incredible cause like Teammates for Kids. It will be an important game for both teams and should be a fun one to watch,” said Stars goalie Marty Turco.
The Stars and Avalanche players and coaching staffs personally pledged to donate money to the Teammates for Kids Foundation based on their on-ice performances during the remainder of the regular season. Currently, 175 players from NHL clubs have made season-long pledges this season.
