Havoc wins thriller over Knoxville
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - James Patterson scored with :39 left and Dan Buccella recorded a hat-trick as the Huntsville Havoc won a thriller over the Knoxville Ice Bears 6-4 Thursday night.
Chris Kovalcik got Knoxville on the board just 3:10 into the game. Buccella responded with his first goal just over a minute later and the game was even a 1-1.
Nathan Daly scored a powerplay goal with 7:33 left in the first giving Knoxville a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.
Tristan Senior evened the game at 2-2 when he scored on the Havoc powerplay with 13:09 left in the second. Buccella gave the Havoc the 3-2 lead with 11:08 left.
Knoxville tied the game at 3-3 when Bob Rangus scored with 2:17 left in the second.
Buccella recorded his third goal four minutes into the second. Kevin Swider evened the game at 4-4 with 1:27 left on the powerplay setting up the game-winner by Patterson. Kelly Miller added an empty net goal with :09 left to seal the win.
Matt Carmichael made 36 saves in the win, while Terry Dunbar made 29 in the loss.
The same two teams will meet again tomorrow night at the VBC at 7:35.
