(Sports Network) - The Columbus Blue Jackets try to end a three-game losing streak tonight when they host the San Jose Sharks at Nationwide Arena.

Since winning two in a row, the Jackets have fallen to Minnesota, Toronto and Pittsburgh. On Saturday they lost a 5-3 tilt to the host Penguins, as Jordan Staal had a pair of short-handed goals to lift the victors.

Nikolai Zherdev had a goal and an assist and netminder Fredrik Norrena stopped 29 shots for the Blue Jackets.

Columbus fell behind the 8-ball in the first period, allowing a pair of power- play goals to fall behind 2-0.

Penalty killing has been an issue for Columbus, as the team has been burned for nine PPGs in 40 shorthanded chances.

The Jackets will host Los Angeles on Friday.

San Jose, meanwhile, hopes to rebound after having a three-game winning streak ended in Saturday's 4-1 loss to Minnesota. Manny Fernandez stopped 31 shots to anchor the Wild's win at HP Pavilion.

Patrick Marleau scored for the Sharks, while goaltender Evgeni Nabokov stopped 14 shots. San Jose lost only its second match of the young season.
