(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks will try to avoid their first four- game losing streak of the season today, when they welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to HP Pavilion.
The Sharks' skid began with a loss in Vancouver last Sunday and continued as they were swept by the Dallas Stars in a two-game series at the Shark Tank.
After earning a 3-2 shootout win in San Jose on Tuesday, the Stars posted a 4-2 victory Thursday evening. Joel Lundqvist had a goal and an assist to help Dallas finalize the sweep.
Mark Bell and Patrick Marleau each had a goal for the Sharks, who have 67 points and trail the Anaheim Ducks by five points for the Pacific Division lead.
Evgeni Nabokov started the game but was pulled after the first period for giving up two goals on eight shots. Vesa Toskala finished the contest in net and also allowed two goals on eight shots.
Nabokov is suffering from a groin injury and is not expected to play today. Rookie forward Joe Pavelski has a foot injury and is questionable for this afternoon's game.
Today's game marks the third portion of a four-game homestand for the Sharks, who are 17-10-1 as the host this year. They will welcome the rival Ducks on Tuesday in the opener of a home-and-home series.
