(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks will try to get back on the right track this evening, as they visit the Dallas Stars in a New Year's Eve matchup at American Airlines Center.

The Sharks have dropped three straight games and were just swept in a home- and-home series with the Phoenix Coyotes.

It all fell apart Saturday evening in Phoenix, as the Coyotes handed San Jose a 8-0 loss. Curtis Joseph stopped 40 shots for his first shutout of the season and 48th of his career and Jeremy Roenick notched his 10th career hat trick to lead the Coyotes.

Evgeni Nabokov started in net and gave up three goals on six shots for the Sharks, who have dropped four of their last five contests. Nabokov was pulled late in the first period and replaced by Vesa Toskala, who finished with 15 saves on 20 shots.

The Sharks, who are 13-7-0 as the visitor this year, wrap up a brief two-game road trip tonight.

Dallas last played on Friday and earned a victory over the visiting Nashville Predators. Antti Miettinen registered the first two-goal game of his career to help the Stars defeat the Predators, 4-1.
