(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks try to rebound from their first loss of the young season tonight when they visit the Vancouver Canucks at GM Place.

San Jose was 3-0 entering Thursday's matchup in Edmonton, but dropped a 6-4 tilt. Ryan Smyth scored his fifth-career hat trick in just over a two-minute span of the third period to lift the Oilers.

Jonathan Cheechoo got his sixth-career hat trick for the Sharks, who won the first three games of the season for the first time since the 1999-2000 campaign and fell one short of recording their first 4-0 start in team history.

Joe Thornton added three assists and Milan Michalek scored the other goal before the Sharks fell apart in the third period. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 26- of-32 shots in defeat.

The Sharks led 4-2 before Smyth's outburst in the third period. Overall, the Oilers tallied four unanswered goals to finish the game.
