(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks will try for the first 4-0 start in team history tonight when they battle the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place.

The Sharks have won the first three games of the season for the first time since the 1999-2000 campaign. So far this year they have earned victories over St. Louis, the New York Islanders, and Calgary.

San Jose began a three-game road trip at the Saddledome on Monday and earned a 4-1 win over the Flames. Vesa Toskala made 29 saves and four different San Jose players scored to lead the Sharks.

Toskala fell just a few minutes short of his first shutout of the season and second straight for San Jose. Evgeni Nabokov made 26 saves in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Islanders.

Patrick Marleau had three assists and Steve Bernier and Milan Michalek each scored second-period goals for the Sharks, who have scored 11 times so far this season. Christian Ehrhoff and Mark Smith also tallied for San Jose.
