(Sports Network) - The Eastern Conference-leading Buffalo Sabres begin a season-high six-game homestand tonight, when they welcome the rival Ottawa Senators to HSBC Arena.

The game can be seen live on TSN at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt.

The Senators will be trying to rebound from a shootout loss this evening after dropping a close decision to visiting Toronto on Saturday evening. John Pohl netted the game-winning goal in the fifth round of the shootout to secure the victory for the Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Place.

Daniel Alfredsson and Mike Comrie lit the lamp for the Senators, who lost for the second time in three contests. Antoine Vermette notched Ottawa's lone shootout score.

Senators goaltender Ray Emery stopped 36-of-38 shots in regulation, but gave up two goals on five shootout chances to drop to 22-13-1 this season.

Ottawa has 63 points and is currently fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. The Sens are also 13 points behind Buffalo in the Northeast Division.

Meanwhile, the Sabres have 76 points and are 12 ahead of second-place Montreal in the Northeast Division. Buffalo also holds a four-point edge over New Jersey for the top spot in the conference.

Buffalo is coming off a close win in Atlanta on Tuesday evening. Daniel Briere scored twice in regulation and had the game-winner in the shootout to help the Sabres to the 4-3 win over the Thrashers.
