The Ottawa Senators signed forward Ryan Shannon to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

Shannon posted career highs with eight goals, 12 assists and 20 points in 35 games for Ottawa this past season.

Over three pro seasons with Anaheim, Vancouver and Ottawa, the 26-year-old Connecticut native has racked up 15 goals and 44 points in 115 contests.

Shannon did very well under coach Clouston's system towards the end of the season. He uses his small size to his advantage, rather than just letting it be a problem.

He's going to be great this season.
