OTTAWA (CP) - The Ottawa Senators won't have defenceman Joe Corvo in the lineup to start the NHL season after the free-agent acquisition suffered a fractured right foot Friday night against the Buffalo Sabres.

Corvo was hit on the skate by a shot from Sabres right-winger Ales Kotalik in the final minutes of the Senators' 4-3 exhibition defeat. He skated to the bench under his own power while play continued and limped off to the dressing room.

Wholly cow, the Senators are falling quicker than Humpty Dumpty!!

That's 3 players, in 2 games, Alfredsson, Schaefer and now Corvo.

Hopefully Alfredson and Schaefer's won't be for long, but Corvo, well, that could take up to 2 months to heal!!!

That's not good, especially since he's supposed to be helping out in replacing Chara and Pothier's spots on the roster.

I think Schaefer should be returning soon, but I haven't heard much about Alfie. It's his groin from what I've heard.
Word is, both Alfie and Schaefer could be in the line up for the game tomorrow, September 25, 2006.
