I don't know who else saw this because it was very late in the blowout by Canada and some of you may have turned you're TV's off. But Alex Semin, yes i'm not mistaking him for Alex Ovechkin, ALEX SEMIN wrecked Dan Boyle into the boards last night. It was the biggest, and possibly only hit I've ever seen Alex Semin deliver to anyone, and it was fierce. He was given a penalty because in international hockey you can't hit anyone in the head. So it was the correct call to give him a penalty, but in the NHL that is a clean check, and there would have been no call.

But then Boyle proceeded to do something, cheap and stupid. he came up from behind Semin, who didn't have the puck and was just skating up the ice. And slew foots him down to the ice. It was a very dirty play, and if it was in the NHL i think he may have been suspended.

If you saw it let me know your take on things.

agreed Boyle was out of line. Semin's hit was clean and I dont know where Roenick and Milbury get off calling it dirty. Boyle should be embarassed. With all the concern about head injuries as of late, slew footing a player that is simply coasting up the ice is dangerous and reckless

Good on Boyle, Semin hadn't done a damn thing all game and then with the game well out of reach decides to throw a dangerous hit.??

So because Boyle got hit hard it gives him the right to completely slew foot someone? Talk about being a baby.. get up and take the hit, if you want to get back at him lay him out with a clean check or at least a check in general.

Putting your stick and arms across someone's body is part of a textbook slew foot. I also remember him taking out his legs pretty well too.

Really? So because Semin hadn't done anything all game, that means he's not allowed to play the last 4 minutes hard? And that was a textbook check, a dangerous check, would have been what Boyle did to Semin. And because Boyle got wrecked along the boards that gives him the right to throw a slew foot? Evgeny Artykhin got a 3 game suspension for the exact same thing earlier this year. Boyle is the lucky one, because if this was the NHL he would at least be fined if not suspended.

How was that far from a cheap slew foot? He puts his leg behind Semin, and checks him into his leg so he falls over it. Actually if there was a tutorial on how to execute a perfect slew foot, I think that would be the hit shown.

Semin took a small liberty in nailing Boyle, but then proceded to chirp about it. He's lucky it was Olympic competition and not the NHL. Probably saved him some dental bills.

I have no problem with trash talking. But if you talk the talk be prepared to walk the walk.
