2 goals in total for the 2010 playoffs for Heatley. That's pretty horrible..
Yes that is. This time Marleau and Thornton escape the blame because they were solid while Heatley might be being blamed by fans for his lack of production. And maybe Boyle too, 2 own goals in the playoffs(don't know if they were anymore, only saw 2 go in by him ,of the games I watched) ,not looking to good.

Oh, haha, you're probably right. Yeah, Blake's 40 and has played 21 NHL seasons. I can see him retiring after this year for sure. In fact, I'm surprised he hasn't already.
Seeing as he's still playing up to his 3.5 million hit, I don't know why he would retire. He's still playing solid hockey, and could be a valuable commidity on the open market. It's gonna be hard for him to earn that kinda dough any other way.

You might be right about his quality of play. I didn't watch enough Sharks games during the season to truly comprehend how he's playing. Maybe I should've done a little homework first.

It has been a busy day for Doug Wilson.

The San Jose Sharks president and general manager confirmed Thursday that the team had signed defenceman Jason Demers to a two-year contract extension worth $1.25 million per season.

"Jason's puck-moving capabilities and competitive nature fit well with where our team is trending," said Wilson in a statement. "He is very capable of executing the up-tempo style of game we want to play and we see him as an important part of our team."

The 22-year old enjoyed a solid rookie season, scoring four goals and 17 assists in 51 games while adding a goal and four assists in 15 playoff contests.

In other Sharks news the club has re-signed defenseman Mike Moore. The six-foot-one, 200-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent on April 8, 2008.

It also appears the team is close to locking up forward Devin Setoguchi to a one-year deal.

The Sporting News is reporting that the Sharks could come to terms with the restricted free agent early next week.

"A kid like him doesn't mind rolling the dice on a short-term deal," Setoguchi's agent Paul Krepelka told the Sporting News. "I'm optimistic we'll get something done."

The 23-year old Setoguchi struggled this season, scoring 20 goals and 16 assists in 70 games after a spectacular sophomore season in which he broke the 30 goal plateau. He did however breakout in the post-steason with five goals and four assists in 15 games.

The Sporting News is also reporting that Wilson has already begun preliminary talks with star centre Joe Thornton on a new contract. Thornton's current deal, which will see him earn $7.2 million this year, expires at season's end.

"The onus is on us to make this a place guys want to play and stay at," Wilson told the Sporting News. "The group of players that we have, that have complemented us as an organization, that's something we hope to continue."

The 31-year old St. Thomas, Ontario native led the Sharks in scoring this past season with 89 points. He added 12 points in 15 playoff games as the Sharks advanced to the Western Conference finals.

While Wilson would not comment on the negotiations, he mad it clear that the Sharks would not be offering an enormous “career contract” to Thornton similar to the one that Ilya Kovalchuk had rejected.

"We don't have any contracts longer than four years," Wilson told the Sporting News. "We are a player payroll team. We operate the way we operate. Under the CBA, people have options and choices. We have our own structure."
