DENVER (AP) - Joe Sakic became the 11th player in NHL history to reach 1,500 points on an assist in the first period against Washington on Wednesday.

The game was halted to mark Sakic's accomplishment. The 37-year-old Sakic is the sixth player to score that many points for one franchise. He's in his 18th season with Colorado/Quebec. Sakic's 922 assists rank 15th on the NHL's all-time list.

Congrats to Joe Sakic. He has had an amazing career, and 1,500 points only reflects on how good he has been. It is even more amazing considering that he has done it all with the Colorado Avalanche franchise.
